I was interested in curcumin for its purported neuroprotective effects and chose a formulation with longvida for its supposed ability to cross the blood-brain barrier. In essence, I wasn’t looking for a noticeable fix; I was thinking of long-term health benefits. But something pretty amazing happened.I’ve had a bunion on my right big toe for over 20 years. The pressure point discomfort I’ve alleviated via shoe selection and shoe stretching. But the general foot achiness and occasional acute pain that have become more pronounced over the last few years — those are things I haven’t been able to resolve. Cortisone shots don’t help, and I’ve just assumed that the time for me to correct this through surgery is getting closer (for those of you who know anything about bunions, the two podiatrists I’ve seen have both categorized my surgical level as “moderate”).Here’s the (unexpected) amazing part. For exercise, I mostly bike. I also walk, but don’t enjoy it as much due to my achy foot. Jogging, I’ve pretty much cut out, for foot reasons. As a man in my early 70s, I struggle to get good quality sleep, and with a family history of Altzheimers, I want to do what I can to help keep my mind functioning well. Since good sleep and a well functioning mind seem to be dependent on each other, I'm concerned about what supplements I should be taking to help keep my mind healthy. This is a Longvida curcumin product that is reported to cross the blood brain barrier more efficiently. Since degeneration of the brain is normally a slow process, I can't really tell if this is helping from day to day. I take this product in addition to another curcumin product containing Theracurmin. My choice in this product was based part on research and understanding of the Longvida formulation, NOW Supplement's good reputation, and the reviews here at Amazon. My Mom is getting getting forgetful. The doctor said it's not severe enough to be Alzheimer's. I was researching Alzheimer's supplements, and this is one is made from a special formulation of the spice turmeric which is able to cross the blood brain barrier and clear out the plaques in the brain. It is in the GRAS (generally regarded as safe) category and is about as safe as most foods. After about a month, there have been no side effects, and I notice a slight improvement in her memory. She remembers to take her pills without my Dad reminding her, she doesn't have that blank stare in her eyes that she sometimes used to have, and seems to remember events a little better. She remembered she went to church service this morning instead of last night, but she didn't remember herself playing the guitar this morning. It didn't cure her memory, but it seems to help.Herbs and drugs effect everyone differently, so I would recommend you give it a try to see if it helps.From what I researched, the best solution for memory problems is to get adequate supply of blood to the brain which is accomplished by not being overweight, controlling blood pressure, ldl cholesterol levels, blood sugar, diabetes, daily walks for exercise, lots of green vegetables ect. Late-in-life ADD diagnosis had me starting a med in recent months with my doctor's support and observation. I began taking this at the same time, and inattentive symptoms drastically improved in a few weeks.However, I've noticed that on days that I take my ADD med but forget to take CurcuBrain, my symptoms return. Nowhere near as bad as when I didn't take anything at all, but noticeably there. I've forgotten it a few times, and inevitably notice mid-morning that my focus isn't what it should be, which is when I realize I didn't take this.To clarify, I'm an avoid-pills-whenever-possible type person, and noticed this effect before implementing a tracking method to ensure I take them daily. For me, there's a direct causal relationship between days I forget the CurcuBrain and the 50%-ish return of my focus issues.
