Super fun!
Great entry in the Doom series. I've played them all since the 2016 remake of the original Doom and they've all been great. Not much you have to think about in these games. Just hop in and kill monsters, no dialogue choices, the only thing you have to decide is which gun or ability to upgrade. There's some light exploring and platforming but that's about it, the game is pretty linear. If you want some bloody, testosterone fueled action then you can't go wrong with Doom: The Dark Ages.

Misleading, Anti-Consumer, and Empty Disc
As a longtime DOOM fan and Richardson local (where id Software is based), I'm beyond disappointed. I pre-ordered DOOM: The Dark Ages for PS5 expecting a physical game. What I got was a useless disc with no game data, just a key for an 85GB download. The listing didn’t clearly state “Internet Required” and the box has a label slapped on it as an afterthought. This is deceptive and anti-consumer. Not everyone has fast internet. Physical games are supposed to work from the disc, not be glorified download tokens. When the servers go offline, this disc becomes landfill. The PC version is just as bad, shipped with Denuvo DRM, which tanks performance and serves no purpose. Everyone knows it’ll either be cracked or removed in a year anyway. So why punish your actual paying customers?DOOM used to stand for cutting-edge, honest design. Now it stands for hollow discs, DRM, and disrespect. Meanwhile, Expedition 33, an indie game with no DRM and a real disc, is breaking sales records.DO BETTER.

Fast, fast, fast paced
Great game. Shooter deluxe with the ability to change difficulty at any time. I give it a 9 out of 10.

Worthless purchase
I'm giving this a 1 star because after receiving the game I discovered that the game isn't actually on the disc. The disc only contains 85mb, you'll have to download the remaining 80gb online. No where in the description or in any promotional material does it state that this is the case, making this physical release totally worthless. So if you're someone who cares about game preservation or actually owning the games you buy, skip this one. To be fair I've heard the game itself is actually pretty good.

Got this for my son and he finished it in 3 days. 22 chapters. Very good storyline.

Change for the sake of it, but not "good change"
I'm for change when it's GOOD change, for example, GTA San Andreas to GTA 4 removed a comical tone and large map for a grittier NYC experience but both games were fun. Doom 2016 added a hype soundtrack and glory kills which set the new standard for Doom.Dark Ages isn't bad but it isn't "Doom" either - it's changing the Doom formula for the sake of it, with dragons, rock 'em sock 'em robot mechs, and a flashing green parry timing mechanic. It took until about level 20 for the map to feel like classic Doom again (large, non-linear map with proper key card placement and exploration).Pros: good animations and graphics, fast frame rate, room puzzles are funCons: soundtrack is nonexistent, areas are padded with nonstop demon respawns, would have been better as a non-Doom game

Bethesda and ID software pull off another classic
After playing Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal several years ago this is a great prequel to those. They made the gameplay a bit different but still really fun. Highly recommended
