Does a fine job
Having multiple functions in one device appealed to me, as an enclosure for adapting my SSD to my PCIe slot was not effective. My system only has one PCIe slot, anyway and I need it for a GPU upgrade, but warnings about my SSD failing can not be ignored. At only three dollars difference between a Samsung 512 GB SSD and 1 TB SSD, I went with the larger as a replacement. Buying a utility to format, partition and clone the new SSD was more expensive than this docking unit. So, I bought one to ease my pain over the failing drive (it just passed the warranty period a few months ago)!More pain was waiting, however. The SSK docking station I received was not fully functional. It would not reliably recognize and read an SSD in the Source bay. The Target bay worked fine, but obviously, cloning was not in the picture. I was able to format and partition my new SSD using the SSK docking station's Target bay.Unlike other reviewers, I did not feel the need to partition and format the SSD before the SSK docking station could use it. I interpreted the instructions as making the point that one needs to prepare the SSD drive for cloning, then, not for simple use! Further, NTFS is not specified in the instructions. So, there is no need to be very worried here.I contacted SSK both directly by email and through Amazon. Their responses were very quick and effective. The troubleshooting did not resolve the Source bay symptoms, though.Admirably, they sent me a replacement at no cost, not even for shipping. Further, they did not require a return of the original unit. It arrived in just a few days and I found it to work very well. The 512 GB SSD was cloned in less than 15 minutes. The cloned SSD worked perfectly fine in my desktop computer, booting and running everything as before. Now, considering the faulty initial fulfillment and the replacement, I must give SSK props for customer service and the overall product performance. Of course, quality control may need to be improved. Had a second replacement been necessary, I would not have kept the unit. I would have proceeded in a different direction. One bad unit would not repel me, though, as no brand is without a fluke. SSK could be attentive enough to monitor the frequency of disfunctional docking stations and take corrective measures. That's just good business. Customer support is as important as quality of product for me. If you take my money and forget about me, I'm going to forget about you. That's just the way it is.So, I will rate them fully five stars. I like a company that sees a problem and fixes everything quickly and professionally. Kudos for prompt response, good troubleshooting and acting responsibly with replacement product at no charge for anything. That's great performance in my book. Buy it and use it well-- there's no need to spend three or four times more money. Paying more does not always mean a better product. Use that saved money for some upgrade to your system.Be well.Be safe.

Faster than software cloning
From unboxing, to reading the directions, to cloning 4 TB of data in under 40 minutes, add in a quick Disk Management issue... I went from having a 4 TB gaming drive to now having an 8 TB gaming drive in under an hour. Here's how it went:The cloning part was incredibly simple. Simply follow the directions they give you, and you'll be up and running in a matter of minutes. As this was my first time doing an offline cloning and not using a computer or software, I found this to be very helpful and faster. Once the cloning starts you simply wait for all the lights to stop blinking and you know it's done. It pretty much clones one terabyte every 10 minutes, so it all depends on how much data you'll be cloning. After the cloning is finished and you turn off the device, you're now ready to install your new SSD. When you initially boot up afterwards you will notice that it still reads at the same size as your original Drive, do not worry there's one more step to follow. Go to Disk Management and there you will see that the rest of the drive is unallocated space. That's because the cloning process only clones to the same size as the original.. simple fix just right click on the allocated part of the hard drive and select extend volume. You will then go through a quick process of increasing the hard drive size to allocate all the rest of the space to the full size of the drive. Afterwards, reboot the system and you should then see the full size of your new Drive. For those with a steam account, you may have to take an extra step and verifying the Integrity of the data. Once you go through that process with steam your games should be fine and all available to play. For those with Minecraft, check to make sure you're able to save your larger worlds, Minecraft can be finicky with some upgrades. Hoyoverse games run just fine. All in all I find it to be a great little device to have around for offline cloning when upgrading your SSD. Especially when they are getting larger and larger and the time it takes to software clone would thus take longer too. I would definitely recommend this to people who do cloning on a regular basis.

So tiny, yet so useful.
I had used cloning hardware before with the older 3.5" drives, but have since turned to software cloning until I found this tiny setup. It is much faster and easier with this and more cost effective. My main purpose is to always keep a good backup of my main operating system so I could simply swap it over in the event the drive was corrupt or failed. I initially had issues with the first unit received by the awesome support team didn't leave me hanging and help to trouble shoot with a firmware update. After that didn't resolve the issue, they quickly ensure that I had a working unit asap. Now that is a support I can feel confident in continuing to buy their products.
