Though the box clearly states that the Orland Cot Bed is made in China, nowhere on the box does it state the mattress is included. There is, however, a sticker on the box, photo attached, stating that the mattress is made in England, so I am going to assume that the mattress was added to the box, once it arrived in England.The cot bed is cheap for one main reason, it’s made in China (not the mattress). Therefore, cheap labour. I’m all for purchasing items that are made in the UK and had I not urgently needed this item (my son, wife and grandson are unexpectedly returning from Australia today), I would have searched further to try and find one made in the UK. Although, with China being the manufacturing capital of the world, finding something built in the UK at a price as cheap as this is going to prove extremely tricky.Construction and assembly: The cot bed assembly was pretty easy, I assembled this on my own. However, a few of the bolts went in at an angle due to the holes not quite being aligned, see photo. I was concerned the wood would crack as I tightened these bolts, but was pleased it didn’t. Overall it’s painted well, though there is the odd patch that isn’t. In my case, these were near the bottom of the cot bed, so I am really not concerned about this (added a photo to show this). Once the bolts were all in and tightened it’s very sturdy.I made sure I was clear on the depth of the mattress before buying any sheets. Many cot bed sheets are only 12mm in depth, which would certainly not fit this mattress. I bought sheets that are 15mm deep and these fit just right.I set the base at the lowest point, as my grandson is 18 mths old, very ready to try and climb out, given the opportunity. With the base at the bottom setting, there’s a space of approx. 12cms high under the base, so should be able to find some storage boxes to slide underneath if needed.Not sure if this will ever be used as a bed, but if it is I will update this review.

Our baby is 9 months old and able to sit up and starting to climb up things so it was time for a bigger bed. The main thing we wanted was for it to be adjustable so we could use it as a toddler bed when she's older.This arrives flat packed and i was dreading putting it together but it was much easier than expected, with far fewer pieces. The head and footboard are made from 2 pieces that slide together. For a cot use both pieces, as a toddler bed just use half. The other pieces are the base and 2 sides. You don't have to assemble dozens of side strips. They do also include a mattress that is decent.Assembly took about 30 minutes at a leisurely pace. All assembly is done using screws with a PZ4 allen head. And slot nuts. I'm not a fan of these as they are tricky to assemble but they are secure. They do include an allen key for assembly but if you do have an electric screwdriver with pz4 attachment it makes it much easier.All of the nuts slot in from the underside and need rotated so the bolt can attach. It is not easy to try and assemble if it's upright as the nuts keep dropping out and you can't see them, but if you flip it upside down the nuts stay in place, you can see what you are doing, and makes assembly much easier.When assembled it is solid. It is pine not flimsy chipboard so it feels very strong. There are a minimal number of screws for assembly and it is a good idea to assemble them loosely to let everything line up, then tighten them up so they are solid. You can also use threadlock for an extra secure fit.The bed has 3 different heights that the base can be adjusted to by removing and reattaching bolts. The rest of the bed does not need changing.The bumpers are pretty much plastic / rubber covers along the rails and they work really well. Our little one has tried picking at them and chewing them and they are still in place without problems.Good quality and good value. This should last a good few years. Recommended. The media could not be loaded. Cot feels sturdy and strong for the price.It was easy for my partner to fit together. Love the simple and minimalist look and the fact can be used as a cot bed later on and the 3 levels that can be adjusted.My only negative point is the mattress. Yes it’s waterproof but it’s a little small for the cot with not completely fitting on one end causing a gap to the cot: the thickness doesn’t sit right with me as per lullaby trust guidelines. I agree with other review to investigate in a better quality mattress for your baby.

The baby cot meets our expectations, the quality is top notch at that price, strong and sturdy, no smell, no sharp edges or openings. It came with a mattress also and can be converted to a toddler bed later on. though it took my husband awhile before we figured out how to fix it. Yes👌🏽, I recommend this simple and sturdy baby cot!
