1923: A Yellowstone Origin Story [DVD]

I haven’t followed the Yellowstone saga, but recently bought a boxed set of the first 5 seasons. I spotted this, a prequel set in 1923 and before the Dutton family who feature in the present day episodes.It’s a lavish production with some outstanding scenery shots. Ford and Mirren are strong leads in a story which is sweeping. I was interested in the appalling treatment of Native American girls by Catholic nuns. Taken from their homes and forced into boarding schools to have ‘the Red Indian beaten out of them’ I found the story quite harrowing and sadly, so true. This is an epic production which covers a number of themes that resonate and set the scene for the development of Yellowstone. A few extras about the production and a great boxed set of the series. I’ll watch it again at some point.

Good prequel/ sequel....... if you liked Yellowstone and 1883 you'll probably enjoy this.

Compelling. As good as Yellowstone without the constant bad language.

Continuation of a great saga.

Feels like too much time spent away from where the real war is being fought—on the land, in Montana, where the Duttons belong.That said, Series 2 can’t come soon enough. There’s more fight in this family, and I’ll be damned if I’m not here to see it. A must-have for any true Yellowstone fan.
