Excellent bulk yeast, keep in freezer, still great after nearly a year
I make two loaves a week, 1 teaspoon of yeast per loaf, so was a bit concerned that it would be money wasted if this didn't keep well. So, I researched it and found that by keeping a couple of ounces in a small pot in the fridge for current use, and the rest wrapped up in its own wrapper as tightly as possible to exclude the maximum amount of air and then put into a plastic container in the freezer, it is still as fresh as new after about eleven months (no, it doesn't actually freeze and you don't need to defrost it - it just prevents the yeast from being activated by warmth). Well, it doesn't get any better than that: excellent value, and in comparison to what the same weight would cost in little supermarket packets, well, just no comparison. Highly recommended.

I was impressed
I'm very new to baking bread, just begun during this crazy period. I had been using a shop-bought yeast in sachets when I thought I would give this a go. The result is excellent and definitely better than the supermarket yeast. The bread has a lighter texture and I am sure it rose more. It certainly exceeded the results of the previous yeast I was using. My recipe for 1lb loaf is: 400gms plain flour, 100 gms wholemeal flour (I like the mix), pinch of salt, pinch of sugar, 7gms of this yeast, 300ml of hot (not boiling) water. Mix into dough, kneed for 10mins, leave to prove for 2-3 hours in greased bowl covered with clingfilm, then knock back for a couple of minutes and put in silicon bread 'tin', bake for 30mins at 180ºC (fan oven). I cover the tin with another one as I prefer softer bread.Once done I let it cool for about 10mins and then put the loaf in a plastic bag to retain the moisture and leave the crusts soft; just leave it out on a rack to cool if you like a crusty crust.I was a little concerned that this yeast would make the bread taste too 'yeasty' but that's not the case. I have most of the yeast stored in a sealed plastic box in the freezer and enough out for a couple of loaves in a tiny sealed container in the fridge.Definitely recommended.

Great yeast according to a novice
Like so many I have developed a love of baking due to our current circumstances, and found that there was a massive shortage of yeast in the shops so I was looking for an alternative and decided to buy all my ingredients in bulk so they lasted. This yeast is well packaged and was great value compared to other similar sized options. I only reason I didn't give it five stars was that it's very obvious it should be in a re-sealable packet. Quality seems really good in my opinion as a novice!

It really works well
Having read a few of the reviews was a bit concerned that this would work as well as my usual brand. Large loaf made with malted flour and coarse wholemeal flour as strong wholemeal flour not available at the moment together with pumpkin seeds and cranberries has produced a loaf of exactly the same quality. The yeast worked well - added 7gms to 500 gms total of flour and switched on the breadmaker. Success. The smell of the bread cooking was exactly the same as my previous dried yeast aroma - not a metallic odour as had been described in some other reviews. Have decanted 100 gms into small container and the rest is stored in an airtight mason jar - both containers in the fridge. It came with a two year best before date so that should keep me going for a while. Absolutely delighted with this brand which considering some outlets are selling my previous brand for 10 times its normal price this is good value

Easy to use, good quality.
This excellent dry yeast is excellent for baking bread, rollsand stuffed rolls using standard flour. A bit of sugar in the dought would accerate the raising process even though it is not strictly necessary. The dry yeast can be simply mixed with flour before adding water, and no proofing is necessary. My only complaint is the seller using UPS Norway whose impolite and unhelpful 'service' delayed the delivery greatly. I had to call them 4 times and finally it was in my post box and I had to pay nearly £18.00 additional fee for it! I hope the seller will never use that carrier in the future.

Brilliant yeast. Great results.
Bought a couple of months ago, used today for the first time.Split pack into several containers and put in the freezer for future use. Will try to update at a later date on using the frozen yeasts.Used a teaspoon of the fresh opened yeast, in a Panasonic bread machine, with a good strong white bread flour (Alinsons for the UK customers) on a quick loaf cycle. 1 hour 55 minutes later, thats what you see, is what I made!5 minutes after that, a couple of hot buttered slices were mysteriously missing.Great yeast for bread machines, so should be good for hand baking bread too. With using only a teaspoon or 3/4 of a teaspoon, depending upon your recipe and bread sizes and quantities, the whole pack should make well in excess of 100 loaves**Update as promised - the yeast is still working perfectly even straight out the freezer into a bread machine.

It’s ok !!
Thought I’d try this yeast as my usual brand was unavailable. Not sure I like it. Firstly it doesn’t seem to work with my usual bread recipe !! Have no idea why. It has a very strong “yeast” smell - I know, it’s yeast so it should smell of yeast !!The grains are a weird shape. What I’ve found is that the dough rises then collapses so a bit disappointed. I’ll keep on experimenting with it in the hope that I finally get a good result. I’m no expert in bread making !!
