Love!

I love Captivating History books! They are always well-written and very interesting. They provide enough info but not too much that drags the book down. This book is no different.

WOW- should be mandatory learning in every freshman high school class

First, if you are deciding about reading this book, you owe it to yourself to do so. Ignore some of the negative reviews that clearly were written by a reviewer who didn't read the book. There are some valid criticism on editing, dry spots and structure but even those reviewers state the value of this book. It is worth the time and effort to read. The writer did an excellent job of covering a shameful period of human history while still preserving the a humanitarian view of the victims of this tragedy. I apricated how the subject wasn't covered as a politically correct distortion of history but a factual account of events while preserving the dignity and humanity of the victims. There are a lot of facts and figures in this book but there are also human stories. Please read the synopsis and the top reviews for the subject matter. I think this quote does a nice job of expressing how I felt reading the book:" The transatlantic slave trade left deep scars on both sides of the ocean, and this book won’t hide away from them. It will attempt to explore it for you, stepping through some of the darkest parts of our shared history without looking away. Though it may be angering or hard to read, it serves as a reminder of how vicious and monstrous people can be to each other ....."

The Transatlantic Slave Trade: A history of the world wide slave trade..

This book provides the data of the beginning and the involvement in the trans Atlantic slave trade. The it covers the dates, quantities and nations involved and the reasons why it happened. It also touches on slavery in other parts of the world. There are a lot of dates and quantities involved in the slave trade. The book is primarily a. historical report and consequently dry and tedious to read.

Historical truth

Very well done. Historically fascinating, giving the reader a powerful perspective of economic prowess shared by European powers seeking wealth and naval control. The scale and brutality of four centuries of human slave trade is by any standard heart breaking. This is a must read for anyone seeking truth and understanding.

Good detail interesting book.

Very interesting and very detailed good book. Should have covered some of the information about the African warring tribes capturing each other and selling them into the slave markets. In this country the American Indian had a similar situation. Waring tribes always captured and used their captors as slaves.

So much information...

I have been in a biracial marriage and have several biracial grandchildren. I could never understand how one person could ever think they are better than another. Slavery was never taught in it's entirety in school...if, at all! I think this book should be required reading in all high schools!
