Must have for Vietnamese beef noodle soup Phở
I've been using this product for years. It added fragrance to my soup phở broth. Lately I've been adding it when marinate meat for grilling. Beautiful fragrance. The reason for 4 stars is the cost.

Looks like possibly two kind of packaging - check which one you get…
Good quality, nice smell and flavor. The plastic box makes it kind of safe for the whole anise to stay whole and not to break into pieces - like it probably would when packed in normal bag/pouch…So far the best price I have seen was $8.49 on April 26 2025.Edit May 09 2025:Check what packing you get - It seems that they may have two kind of packaging - one is the good and sturdy plastic box, but I have also seen in this listing recently something that looks like a paper bag - I would not buy this new paper bag packing as it is much easier for the star anise to get damaged on the way…So, check what kind of packaging you will get from them - it should show in the photo description.
