Exceptional Sanskrit dictionary
This Sanskrit English dictionary is exceptional for 2 reasons:(1) It is the only Sanskrit dictionary that lists all unique words and special meanings of words used in Vedic Sanskrit (Vedas, Brahmanas, Aranyakas, Upanishads). If you want to read even some excerpts of these texts in original Sanskrit, this dictionary is a must-have.(2) It has the largest vocabulary of any Sanskrit dictionary I've seen (Apte, Macdonell, Max Muller). If you want to find the meaning of every word you read in the excerpts of these texts in original Sanskrit, this dictionary is a must-have.This is the 2010 hardcover edition published by Nataraj books in USA, and the pages and binding are good and hopefully will hold together for a long time. Words are listed in each page in three columns, with Sanskrit in bold font and English meaning in regular font. The font in the English text is quite clear and readable.Only the Sanskrit "root" words are in Devanagari font while the "derivative" words are in transliterated Roman font. The Devanagari font print is a bit smudgy and sometimes hard to read. Also the mixing of Devanagari and Roman fonts for Sanskrit words make it very confusing when you're trying to alphabetically search for a word because some of the diacritic marks used with Roman font are smudgy and not very clear.

Great Deal, Would reccomend!
5/5! I was originally a bit concerned about the reviews saying the print was too small or hard to read, but after ordering this I really see why people still give it great reviews, this is awesome! I have to admit it can be a little bit difficult to find your way around the text but ultimately, I find it to be a great resource of the Sanskrit language! I would reccomend this to anyone wishing to further their studies!

thorough and filled with all you need, but,
it is comprehensive, and super helpful, but a bit challenging to navigate, you get used to it. I created my own, table of contents and marked frequently sought after words... everything all review say is true, the type gets faded on some pages, and the paper isn't like american heritage dictionaries, But i think it is a great version at a great price, i am happy because i got exactly what i paid for, and then some! i have learned a lot about the sanskrit language i had no idea about, just from researching text in this dictionary.

Rich in knowledge
A lot of words and definitions. It could use a little more interpreting, but this is an old language, and for one book, this does a good job.

Five Stars
Excellent value and invaluable for anyone translating from Epic and Classical Sanskrit.

Pages All Accounted For, Paper Quality Can Be Better
I was concerned about a previous review stating missing pages from the book. However, considering the limited resources on Sanskrit, I thought I'll have to take the risk and do with whatever I am offered. Fortunately, it seems all pages are accounted for.The paper quality is a little less than usual dictionaries, but I think it will hold. The letters are small, but cramming all those words in such a book would render it expectable.

A major misprint: fluke or standard?
Like some other commentators, I was wary of buying a reprint of this book from a completely unknown (to me) publisher. Indian reprints don't have the best reputation for quality, unfortunately. For the price, the book appeared to be quite satisfactory: well bound and very legible. I was satisfied...until I wanted to consult the entry on the word "linga" and discovered that pages 893-908 are wholly missing from my book! Not out place: just gone. Maybe I got a misprint, or maybe these pages are missing from ever copy out there. I'll never know. I've found no way at all to contact Bharatiya Granth Niketan to ask for a refund, and it took too long to find the flaw for me to return it through Amazon. Buyer Beware!

Definitely for the serious -
I was hoping for something simpler. It will take time to go through it and learn how to use it. I understand that it is one of the best dictionary's for Sanskrit.
