Too brief

The story has been abridged a little too much. I bought it for my 6 yr old. It is good as an introduction to Ramayana. I am now reading him the Amar Chitra Katha version...which a little too detailed for him. He is able to relate to the Amma Tell Me About version as I read the detailed one. I wish there was something in between.

Good, not great

Nicely written and illustrated, but all the characters look like girls... Seasons of a Splendor is a better buy .

Nice book for children

We read this to a small group of 6-8 year-old kids here in the US to teach them about why, as Indian Americans, we celebrate Diwali.

An enjoyable read.

Great illustrations. A modern take on a classic. Obviously geared towards South Indian readers, but is still good overall. Love it.

Illustrations are so bad. All the characters look the same

Illustrations are so bad. All the characters look the same. Stories are just pedantic. Definitely cannot compare to my grandmamas stories.

Ramayana for kids

We have all listened to Ramayana from our elders in simple audio format. Now with videos and animations, story telling has reached an entirely different level. In this, Bhakti is doing an excellent job. To tell the story of Rama to kids with such interesting animations requires an amazing level of skill. Both Bhakti and Maulshree have combined their talents for the third time to produce an excellent piece. The day is not far off , I am sure, when Bhakti will release Ipad apps for Indian epics/stories.

Beautiful to look at but prose not so great

I bought this book together with Amma tell me about Diwali and Amma tell me about Holi. I was hoping to find books that explained the hindu mythology in a way that my 5 year old would enjoy and understand. These books are very beautifully illustrated. Like the Gheehappy books, the illustrator worked at Disney and the quality shows on every page. However, I found the prose a little annoying. In some places it tries to rhyme, and sometimes does not do that well. In others, the rhyme is completely dropped. So the rhythm of the book does not flow. My kiddo is used to books by e.g. Julia Donaldson where a lot of thought has gone into the text, the rhyming and the way that the story flows so I don't think she'll enjoy these as much. It's not worth buying both Amma tell me about Diwali and Amma tell me about Ramayana as the stories are the same more or less. The Diwali one includes a short story about Lakshmi. I think it would have been better to have an additional chapter in the Ramayana one or maybe expand the Diwali one to include more of the Ramayana story.

A great way to introduce Indian Mythology

I bought this book after a friend's recommendation. My son loves books. Although he can't read, he loves watching the images and listening to them when we read them out to him. I have been teaching the concept of god to him and this book is helping me in that as well. It is a rhyme that explains Ramayana in such a simple way to kids. The illustrations are so good and descriptive.

Poorly written jazzy packaging

It's not well written. The language is not great, the poem is not in meter. The story is also rendered inspiring. I wish the writer had tried to inculcate in the story what she had written as it's conclusion.

My kid love the book

My 3 year old daughter has been showing a lot of interest in reading these days. So i thought to introduce Mythology books to her. Came across this one through a friend. I read it to her before bedtime and the book keeps her engrossed. I will Surely order more from the series.

Good introduction for little children

It's a nice and quick way to introduce young children to the epic story of Ramayana. My 3.5 year old looks at with great interest. I tone down the language a bit (as I like to use Hindi). My only issue is that some of the illustrations are exactly the same as those in "Amma tell me about Diwali" so there is no point in buying both the books.
