Getting one handle on a few cutting tools
The Schrade kit of a saw, shovel, pick, and axe looked like something I could leave in the trunk but on handling the various pieces I started to wonder is this was indeed a Schrade build or an 3rd party kit; the axe head tapers on both upper and lower blade to a thin point - that's going to break off fairly quick; the saw blade isn't locked at all and the handle is just the metal tubing (painted but not with any grip coating) so if the blade tip should jam there is a chance you could pivot the handel with your fingers into the saw teeth; the pick is tapered to a point on both ends with one end sharpened like a baby scythe-not sure what purpose that edge serves; would have prefered a aze type blade on one end and the pick on the other like a baby Pulaski fire axe. The shovel's edges are sharpened and the metal feels decently solid when fitted to the handel. Very "cold steel russian shovel like". I would have thought putting a locking clamp to allow disposable demolition blades from a demo saw (sawall type) would be useful and more versatile but that's my 2 cents. The carry kit is a zippered pouch with a false hard side to make it box like; I imagine I'll put a coarse/medium stone in there as well and a pair of gloves and safety glasses.

Great kit for camping/outdoors
This is an awesome kit for camping. Like most things, this was purchased due to being without all these things on a previous excursion. Comes in fairly sturdy carrying case.-Hatchet - 4/5Good heft and balance to it. It's an unusual design for a hatchet. Makes short work of chopping firewood, but the flat blade design makes for some very sharp points. It comes with two small plastic covers for those points, but they don't secure well and end up falling off in the carrying case. I can see the points breaking/flying off if you lose control of the hatchet and hit something hard. **Update** after some extended use, I found the two-piece handle coming loose while chopping. Use caution as not to get an axe head accidentally embedded in your leg.-Shovel head 5/5Leave it Schrade to turn a shovel head into a handy blade. Works great as a shovel and doubles as a cleaver in a pinch.-Saw 5/5This is a really handy folding saw that's a good alternative to the hatchet for cutting/trimming small branches.-Pick-axe ??Haven't used it. Not sure why Schrade added the sickle/reaping hood end to the pick axe. I suppose you could use it to clear overgrown weeds.-Case/kit 4/5Handy carrying case. Decent construction, but it doesn't hold up very well to the sharp blades that catch on the material (i.e. the hatchet, the pick-axe, the shovel). The entire kit should have come with blade covers.Overall, great kit by Schrade. If you are reading this, Schrade, add better blade covers and/or carrying case and you have a winner.

Reliable and well made.
Great kit. Everything works as or better than expected. The case is nice and built well with extra room for additional “like” tools. My only gripe is the point edges on the axe head. They are super sharp and pointed which could make things a bit dangerous if you are new to using a hatchet or are not used to handling weapons or tools of this type. I would prefer a more traditional type hatchet head. That said, I used the heck out of this kit while on a 10 day dry camping excursion through the Ishi wilderness in CA. I Primarily used the axe and shovel. The pivoting axe head was a bonus for making starter fuel wood chips. I highly recommend this but would caution a first time user of such tools. This kit is great for excursions and as an emergency back up kit.

Nice set
This was awesome, pretty durable and nicely stored in carry bag, very pleased with everything but might have a little concern of the connecting hook, hope it dont break off.

Camping small task
The axe head broke chopping a four inch tree limb. The back end of the head where the handle attaches (hammer part ) broke. But so far the saw and everything else seems in good working conditions. The handles could also be redesigned to accommodate all to work together, instead of just two. I like it for camping, but they need to redesign for chopping and a longer handle for digging or trimming tree limbs for guys in tree stands. Overall I think the idea and packaging is great. Small enough to carry on a go pack. Just maybe make the axe head out of solid steel, then cast.
