They work well for axe throwing

They throw very well, you can aim them with good accuracy after a little practice, they are sharp enough.

Do not buy these axes unless you plan to fix them

Just opened the box and started to check them out. At first glance they seem to be decent axes. I started putting my felling kit together, got ready to go out and chop down some trees. When I took the axes out of their protective guards and took the plastic off I can see what looks like glue trying to hold the axe heads in position.Outside of that, the axe heads are not supposed to be loose. You can shake it like a pepper shaker and hear it rattle. It has a sharp enough edge you could use it for kindling out of the box which was better than I expected but otherwise no good.Do not purchaseThe handles do not feel like an American hickory but I guess it could just be a really green one used. Outside of that it isn't seated well and it seems already have a stress fracture on the backside of the head from being jammed on the handleLastly it is coated with the rhino liner looking spray to cover defects is my guess. Be careful with use because I'd bet you'll hurt yourself when this thing snaps off or breaks from a bad forge cause my head is uneven. All in all very low quality axe, spend another 10 bucks and get something else

Meh. $20 weekend project.

Well, it’s a $20 axe. What can I really say. First the “bad”. The head was not set right, and was loose straight out the box. The blade does have some warp to it. The grind was not bad, but NOT good. The wood has a very interesting “pattern” that makes the grain look correct. But, it’s running sideways to the blade, not lengthwise. The handle has a workers flat spot right where the hand rests. Haven’t done any cutting or splitting with it, but it just feels weird, and unnatural. The “good”. After some whacking with the dead-blow the head seems to be setting in okay. The blade has been easy enough to start sharpening. And I think it will be a fun little project. Will be a nice one to take on quick camping trips and not care to much about.I’ll take the varnish off the handle, and coating off the head. Sharpen it properly. And I’m sure it will be a fun one to have around.Don’t buy this expecting something incredible. It’s a weekend project that will get some use, someday.

Cracked handle...

Handle came cracked...shouldn't be a bad little hatchet once I've rehandled it.

Quality

1. The ax head is coated with a rubber like material, similiar to truck bed linner material. Difficult to remove and its serves no obvious purpose. It needs to be sharpened but that is to be expected of new edge tools.2.The handle grain is at about 45 degrees relative to the ax blade. Should be vertical for strength. The wood appears to be beach, not hickory as advertised. Also the handle is of heart wood, it should be made of second growth hickory sap wood.3. The ax blade is about 7 degrees out of line with the handle.4. The sheath fit is rather tight.5. All that said it will serve as a camping ax.

Must-have, useful and sturdy axe

I needed an axe to cut down a tiny tree that was growing on the side of my fence. This axe did the job with ease. I’m impressed by the quality and convenience of this axe. It even became my go-to tool for breaking down wood for our new Solo bonfire pit. Great product! I highly recommend this for anyone to keep around the house. You’d be surprised how useful it is.

Good as a prop, not as a working hatchet.

Sharp as a spoon and the head is now loose after first use of prepping fire wood. Its not worth the effort of returning. I'll just buy something better.

Needs rework, this is a project!

Very first time trying the hatchet something pop out from the top of the handle. The wood wedge broke and the head became loose already.I carefully removed the handle and inspected everything. The main problem is the eye. Very badly put together with all sort of indents and uneveness, sometimes up to an eight of an inch. I had to grind the eye to even the inside using a Drummel tool and a rounded file. Also removed the paint on the head and the varnish on the handle and applied linseed oil. Then I tried to make the handle fit. The handle is not well suited for the eye. I had to trim a lot of handle material (an inch and a half) to make it fit and even then it doesn't fit perfectly, but I'm at the lowest point on the shoulders now and cannot go further down.Well, at least now I have a 13 inch hatchet that works!

Do not buy for throwing axes.

Bought these for throwing axes. This is one of them after less than 10 throws. The other lasted a day. Poorly designed axe eye and cheap handle material. They looked nice though!

Used for an outing. Well worth its weight…

Buy it if you need one
