Rentokil FR51 Advanced Rat Trap Twin Pack

It's dead and I'm grieving.
I purchased these after trying and failing with other traps - I tried live traps to no avail so bought other snap traps, but they didn't work as they just snapped but let them escape. These traps were easy to use and bait, but I began to lose faith I would ever catch anything after a week of them being down - however I'm told rats are neophobic and it can take awhile to catch them. Then I walked into my kitchen without a care in the world this morning and a poor little rat stared back at me. Literally. Staring into my soul. I ran out of the room sobbing and screaming incoherently. My partner disposed of it (luckily he could just unclip it without touching it and plop it into a bag, double bagged).I still have another couple traps down as I doubt it was a lone rat living here - unfortunately I live next to takeaways that don't seem to care if they attract rodents. I give these traps 5/5 as it looked like an instant kill and easy to use, but I didn't really want to kill it and it was a last resort. Be prepared for heartbreak when you see you killed a living thing. I'm now staying away from the k̶i̶t̶c̶h̶e̶n̶ killing room for the rest of the day in case of more casualties.Sad but useful tip: Although rats love chocolate spread/peanut butter I heard its best not to just put that in the bait as they are clever enough to find a way of snapping the trap and licking it up after. I used seeds and dipped them in a small amount of peanut butter and then used a hot glue gun (small amount) to glue it to the base of the bait. That way its less likely they are able to avoid capture as they have to try to grip the food. :(

Super-cool rats know how it works
I have a number of rats now in my garden. I have stopped feeding the birds so as not to encourage them, but they don’t leave. This has happened, to my mind, because of lockdown and it has been ideal for them as so quiet everywhere. My rats are super-clever - eating up the pot of peanut butter without setting trap off! How do they do it, i just don’t know! It certainly works when you try to re-set trap!! Back to the drawing board i think!

Sceptical at first, but WOW!
I was sceptical at first as to how successful this trap would be for my problem - it was definitely sturdy and well made when removed from the box but I initially thought it was too big to catch a mouse. How wrong was I?! I loaded it with a bit of grated Tesco cheese and some crushed pumpkin seeds before setting it up alongside the fridge where I had seen the mouse run before. After just ONE night I came down to breakfast to find the problem mouse dead in the trap. No fuss, no mess, and no having to deal with rat poison which would have put my other pets at risk. Thank you!!!!!

No more Mr Rat
It took 4 days but our unwanted furry visitor is no more. We used smooth peanut butter that seemed to do the trick. Also liked the fact that you can squeeze the other end of the trap to release Mr Rat. Resetting it is easy.

Its working.
Bought these as I had seen a rat in the garden. Awhile after I'd got them I heard noises in the attic 😕 So my son (thank gawd) has been checking the trap in the attic and so far has caught three mice 😷 So will keep redoing the attic one and will get back to the garden, unless hopefully its moved on.Only negative is having to be close to the trap to empty it and then dispose of its contents .

5 STARS
Well, this product I cannot fault. We assumed we had a rat(s) in our back garden, phoned our local council paid a fee, and they basically done nothing. I caught the rat on our CCTV, so thought no enoughs enough. I purchased these, arrived yesterday and guess what was in the trap this morning, a rat. Fantastic, could have saved a fortune ordering these in the first place rather than using our council services, who done nothing. Freshly baited with nutella and back out just in case there are any more.

Looks the business, never got to test effectiveness though
Sturdy item, and looks like it will pack a good punch.Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) I never caught our rat, despite trying chocolate and peanut butter bait. Either it went somewhere else, or one of our neighbours got it before I did.I'm pretty sure if it had triggered one of these bad boys it would have been a goner though.
