Deteriorated then stopped working after a couple of months

This was amazing when it worked. It cleaned and disinfected large items like big cutting boards and the baby's tray that don't fit in the dishwasher so much easier than soap and water. We also loved to use it on countertops.Unfortunately, the product only worked as advertised for a couple of months with new batches every few days. At that point, the machine would sometimes start randomly jump around on the countdown timer before eventually erroring. The first few batches like that, we just would try again or throw away. But the problem progressed to the point it was rarely working. None of the troubleshooting such as resetting the device fixed this. At that point, we called customer service and was put in touch with the company's engineer. He said this resulted from a bad batch of vials and that we could fix the issue by adding a second vial if it happened again, and he apologized and sent us a few free vials to make up for this. Using two vials worked for a while, but eventually we kept the device started failing with even two vials. As the frequency with which it errored with even two vials grew more common, my wife and I just became increasingly fatigued with using the device and trying to troubleshoot it and it has been sitting in our cabinets unused for at least 4 months now. I'm not sure what broke with it, but I don't at all believe it was the vials as even the replacement vials and subsequent orders seemed to have this issue.I'm very disappointed by this as I really did like the product when it was working.

Simple packaging for simple product with simple ingredients

I spent a LOT of time researching before buying this. I read reviews, blogs, their website etc. but nothing can really COMPLETELY describe the product until you try it. It's a bit expensive... but I'm glad I gave it a shot. Here's my unbiased review.FIRST IMPRESSION: Right out of the box, my first thought was that this is not something made for "retail shelves" as the packaging is a very simple, unassuming cardboard box. Nothing to indicate what inside. I was really impressed with the video marketing / advertising on their website so I was a bit surprised they didn't have packaging to match my impression of the brand. But obviously that had nothing to do with the effectiveness of the product itself.I like that it's small enough to fit out of the way and the bright LED lights will be easy to read and a convenient way to keep track of the expiration date.SPRAY BOTTLE: Once I opened it, I was immediately disappointed with the strength and sturdiness of the plastic bottles (both for mixing the solution and the storage spray bottle). Many reviewers indicated that it's a "strong plastic similar to a baby bottle" but having gone through quite a few baby bottles with our first child, I thought the plastic seemed thin and cheap. This may have been before the lid was fully secured and while it was empty though (no pressure inside) as now it is filled, it seems much sturdier. One thing I will point out is that the bottle shown in the videos is NOT the bottle you get. It does match the one shown in all of the photos, however, so just assume this is an improvement over the original model.MAKING THE SOLUTION: The process of mixing the solution was relatively easy (fill to the line, twist off the cap and pour in the solution and place on the stand to add electricity). I was a bit overly cautious trying to make sure I followed the instructions completely and did notice that the "Quick Start" guide doesn't actually tell you to pour in the 12 oz of water (there is a picture in Step 2 showing a sink) but I think this detail would be important to include. The full steps (including the recommendation to "wait 10 seconds to allow the solution to disperse") are in the full User Guide. In about six minutes, my solution was ready to try out!SCENT: The product description indicates that there is a "very faint" scent similar to a swimming pool. I'll be honest, my thought when reading this was that it probably REALLY smells like chlorine (thinking of an indoor hotel pool) and that it would be overwhelming and the only reason they include this is so you can't complain about it later. But for me, I really didn't notice the scent at all (and I'm VERY sensitive to smells). It smelled "clean" but it didn't really make me think of chlorine or a swimming pool.USE: My wife recently bought into the microfiber (Norwex and The Ultimate Cloth) craze and I decided in place of paper towels I would use one to do my cleaning. I ended up spraying down the countertops, cabinet faces and knobs as well as the stainless appliances. I didn't notice ANY streaking, but I'm already used to using water with my microfiber and figured the Force of Nature solution would just be a step up in terms of cleaning power. When I started, the cloth was dry but by the end it was damp with the solution and I felt did a really good job cleaning.I honestly can't see a visible difference over using water, but the counters actually FELT cleaner to the touch (no film left behind!) and given the testing results and promises to kill germs, I felt confident that it was better than water alone.I also cleaned our bathroom sinks, mirrors, shower curtain and toilet seats and used it as an odor eliminator around the dog crate and baby diaper genie container. All in all... this relatively "light" bit of cleaning only used about half the bottle, which I was pleased with.OVERALL IMPRESSION AND VERDICT: Unfortunately there isn't really a way for me to confirm the claims in cleaning power. Is it really "as strong as bleach"? I can't say from my own use, but I'm going to choose to trust the marketing materials and test results they provided and continue to use this in place of water with my microfiber sheets. The kitchen counters "felt" cleaner, if that can be used as an indication and it has to be better than water alone. The "science" seems sound and I really like that this can be used on both solid surfaces as well as carpets, fabrics, etc. We have a new baby on the way and I trust it enough that I'll use it on the high chair, toys, bottles and binkys. This is definitely an expensive up front cost (and the main reason why I reduced from 5 stars to 4), but I think the ability to make my own solution will be useful (and affordable) in the long run, even if the ingredients should be cheaper than what they charge. I wish the bottle itself was a bit higher quality. There is a 12-month warranty and you can buy replacements, but I think they could have found a better bottle to include. Finally, as many noted, there is a 14 day "expiration" but I think you can time it as such where you use it on day 1 and 10 and then wait another 10 days before making the next batch (or some other variation).

Even better than expected

I absolutely love this machine/system. It not only disinfects without toxic substances, it also cleans more effectively than the products that do have them. The electrolyzed water solution has only a faint smell, a bit like swimming pool chlorine but much more mild. It doesn’t irritate the skin or eyes/nose, so I can clean everything without gloves or worrying about ventilation. As someone with MCAD, this is huge.I’ve been using the product to disinfect doorknobs and lightswitches daily, as well as tackling old stains/messes. This one cleaner replaces so many things- I can use it for the kitchen, bathroom, walls, carpets, virtually anything. I spray it in the sink and dishwasher to prevent smells from developing. I’m especially impressed with the results of two areas- the first is my staircase railing. I assumed the light wood was permanently discolored from years of use, but to my astonishment this product took off ALL of the waxy/oily residue, revealing pristine wood underneath. The other major thing I used it on was the cream-color carpet. My cat had a medical issue in the past and the stain was from a mix of blood and urine. Though it had been thoroughly cleaned, I assumed nothing would take such a stain out. This product took it out right before my eyes. I just sprayed it on so the fibers were damp, then pressed down with a paper towel and it soaked up the stain.Making the solution is easy and fun to watch. The machine flashes blue light while the bubbles pulsate through the water. Though the concentrated liquid in the ampules smells like vinegar, there is absolutely no vinegar smell to the final product. The vinegar provides the necessary pH to transform the water and salt into sodium hydroxide and hypochlorus acid when the electrical current is applied. This is similar to how salt pools work. It’s a great chemistry exploration for my daughter, and she plans to test its germ-killing powers with agar medium for her science fair project.I have used 3 ampules worth of solution in a week, so it’s probably not super cost effective- but to me it’s definitely worth it because it does such a great job without making me sick.
