This unit uses disruptions in a magnetic field to 'sense' your hands. This may not be important to many, as an infrared 'eye' typically is not a problem for most installations. We however were looking for something that we could paint, and luckily the magnetic field is not disrupted with paint. Accurately senses your hands, and looks very industrial and sleek. Be aware, you will need something to 'mix' the temperature of the water, it is not included. My faucet is the only thing that is hooked up to a very small hot water heater, so I just turned down the temp of the water heater to be comfy for washing hands and hooked it directly to the hot.

It is great not to have to turn on/off the bathroom faucet. So the theory is awesome! Delta didn't include two hoses that I needed and had to get from a specialty plumbing store (3/8" compression on both ends like a dishwasher feed). Other than installation, the faucet stays on longer sometimes, sometimes it works perfectly. I just wish it would be more consistent. Overall, a GREAT product, especially for only two benjamin$.
