Bought this for my six year old for her to use on her 'secret diary'. Her brother was able to open it easily without a key, and he is only three years old. You just pull the locking arm directly away from the body of the lock (with about as much force as a three year old has) and it comes undone. Also, what do they mean by 'bear shape'? Many locks look like this just by the way they must function. Looks more like a frog anyway.EDIT: I originally gave this one star due to the argy bargy from my kids (because of the original review), but once I calmed down I saw that this is an inexpensive 'toy' lock and it does what one might expect it to do. Also, for some reason it becomes more difficult to 'jimmy' open are a few weeks (my three-year old son did carry it around almost constantly, so it might be due to some minor bending of the arm that made it a tighter lock). However, I still have some residual bad feelings about the whole 'day one' episode, so don't feel like going above three stars.

Cute little padlocks. Probably not the most sturdy/secure but they do the job and look nice.

Items returned. Not suitable for purpose at all, they are so weak.

I totally love these little locks. they are cute and handy. I got them to replace the lock on my Dream Journal, and as there are a few left over, i can use them on other things or even in my art work ( am a mixed media artist).

It' a small, cute lock - the look and size is exactly as per the offer. Works with no issues. It's a great lock with vintage-look to use for decoration. It can be paired woth a ribbon or a thin decorative chain or for DIY puzzles & escape rooms
