Invaluable tool for climbing.
Super cool product. Mid line attachable. Beats old school prusik. Easy and smooth. Designed to stay together, but it can fall apart when switching lines. So have a backup prusik just in case.

Top of the line product and service!!!
The service was above any other company that I have dealt with. Sherrilltree contacted me after I bought it, and let me know that my order was processed and being shipped. They made sure that everything was correct and that I was happy with the service. It arrived a day early and was packaged great and was in perfect shape when I got it. They made me feel like I was a priority and not just another customer. The Rope Runner Pro is exactly what the said it was and is the best on the market, in my honest opinion! I would definitely buy again and would not think about ordering from another tree company! If you are a rock climber, tower worker,or tree cutter and you climb with ropes you will love this setup!!! It's the smoothest device I have used ascending and descending. I have never felt safer while climbing as I do now! I hope this review helps someone out that is on the fence about buying this. Even if you don't order from Sherrilltree get one of these! I promise you'll not regret it. Big Green Tree Services will use these as standard climbing equipment from here on out. Thanks Notch and keep up the good work.

Only use with no stretch rope
Had a fall on some slick low stretch rope. The stretch builds up pressure under the device and shot through creating a collapse, the rope runner did not recover. 30 ft fall. Kinda hectic on the way down so I doubled up the rope about half way there and slightly lessened the impact. I like it with a double braid no stretch that I have used a lot with no problems. I wish the adjustment screws had a deeper head or different bit so you could really trust your life by cranking on it. Loose fitting tool and easy to wobble out. Also on a new rope go up in ten foot increments and brake your way down to milk the skin of the rope down. If you get carried away like I did at 50 feet up and brake your way down the skin will bunch up under the rope runner and jam up. You will have to hop and fully collapse the beak, going for a 6-10 foot free fall to get past the bunched up skin.

Completely overwhelmed with joy by its performance!
This mechanism works flawlessly! I honestly can't see using anything else!!

Pretty awkward to use
The RRP is very well built and is a quality product, however I have never been able to use it well. Using it with Xstatic I’ve never been able to get it to run smoothly while performing SRT. It is very difficult to release and when it does release I am basically at a free fall until it catches again. I have watched videos on it and I haven’t been able to get the same experience using it as some other people. I am about 220lbs, so it could be that I’m too heavy for it. However as my first mechanical device it performs pretty well DRT and good enough SRT.

Research before you buy
Do a quick internet search for "Notch Rope Runner Pro Inspection Notice." Notch is telling it's customers that the device may fail if it is not inspected correctly (i.e. if it fails, it's due to the user's lack of maintenance checks). However, it may instead be due to a bad design where the end user cannot physically see the spring to inspect it with their eyes to see if it is working, as intended (safely) and be able to properly clean around the spring so that it functions safely. It's shiny, newer and smoother than the Singing Tree version, but I would look for a different multi-scender device than this Rope Runner "Pro."

great quality
I don't climb trees very often, so it's kind a lot of money for rec.. use, but then again what's your life worth! This is a very well build, safe product. It's meant for the pros, but better to be safe then sorry!!
