Great simple to use Camera
Great little camera. We use it to watch our guinea pigs when we're not at home. Simple to setup. The app is straightforward and works flawlessly, it allows you to record, take pictures and listen / speak through the camera. Well worth £15.

10/10 would recommend
I love this camera, it’s inexpensive but great quality. The picture on the camera itself allows me to see things in detail, it’s easy to use and detects even the smallest of movements which is super handy for us as i use it as a baby monitor. I can talk to my baby clearly and easily though it does have a slight communication delay, and i can easily zoom in and out, plus the camera covers so much space i can see more than just my baby’s crib. I would 100% recommend

Works as a local-only camera, with some caveats.
Firstly, I bought this to use as a camera with my other existing IP cameras and NVR. I do not use the Tapo cloud services at all and with that in mind it works quite well, but has some frustrations. Hopefully this review will help others in a similar situation. For what it's worth the Tapo software is actually pretty good, certainly better than some of the competing budget ones out there for those that are wanting to use this.Out of the box first impressions are pretty good, although it's worth noting that none of the product photographs show the power cable. The reason for this is it's an unsightly black cable that plugs in to the underside of the main camera housing. It's not USB (as many others are) and it's easily removed (depending how it's installed you could easily unplug the cable - so it can't really be installed anywhere that there is a tampering risk)Unfortunately, it is not possible to set the camera up without the Tapo app (which requires creating an account with their service) - it is not possible to simply visit an internal web service and connect it to your WiFi or configure credentials this way. This is disappointing, as I have literally no other need for the app.The camera uses DHCP and there is no way within the setup process or the settings afterwards to set a static IP or network configuration (such as DNS servers or NTP)Once connected, the first thing I noticed was the Tapo watermark on the image - this scourge of a trend is appearing across many cameras now especially dash cams - however thankfully it's easily disabled within the camera settings. Also within the camera settings you'll find the "Camera Account" option which lets you set a username/password for standard ONVIF access from a normal NVR, this was then quickly discovered by my NVR and it connected immediately with no issues.Even when using an NVR the standard Tapo services are enabled and it makes a lot of requests to the outside internet, including sending clips / images when motion is detected. As I wanted this device to be on the local network only I've set a firewall rule that prevents it from communicating with the outside world. The app still works locally, and I can configure the camera, but it's worth noting that things like firmware upgrades fail as the app only instructs the camera to download it directly.Overall for £20 you can't go far wrong. The image quality is decent, the camera is neat enough (although there are better, more robust, and smaller ones on the market), the IR illumination isn't great but fine for short range internal use.I really wish it was possible to configure without the app, and to set up purely on an 'internal' network that doesn't have any connection to the internet, but that's not the intended market of these cameras and I suppose we should be grateful they considered the use of third party NVRs and ONVIF support at all.

Great camera!
This camera is awesome! The picture is super clear, and setup was a breeze. It has a bunch of useful features, and the notifications are spot on. I liked it so much, I’m already planning to get a second one!

These are great for home security!
The Tapo Mini Smart Security Camera is an excellent choice for reliable home monitoring. I’ve bought three of them and set them up with movement detection to keep an eye on anyone near my house or yard, and they’ve worked flawlessly. The video quality is sharp, even at night, thanks to the clear infrared night vision.Setting them up was simple—just a quick connection to Wi-Fi and the Tapo app, and they were ready to go. The motion detection feature is highly responsive, sending instant alerts to my phone whenever there’s movement. The app makes it easy to check live feeds or review recorded footage, giving peace of mind whether at home or away. Adding an SD card allows me to record the video and check it later. For a compact, affordable, and effective security solution, the Tapo Mini Smart Camera is a great investment. It’s easy to use, delivers clear video, and adds an extra layer of security to any home.

Really pleased bought it to go in the window to view outside
I bought this to try out as a camera in the window for outside for whenever we go away. It's really good. Doesn't let you know when cats come in the garden only when there's a person or a car goes by. A bit of a pain when your phone is constantly going off with notifications though 😂. It does the job though motion detection, not tried the free cloud you get get for 30days because it seems to store daily what movements there have been. Was very simple to set up just follow the instructions. There's a bit of a glare from the window so had to position it just right and sit it on a small box. Have it on day mode all the time because of the window it won't do the night mode, but inside the night mode is good because we tried it out inside first. I ordered another 1 for the other side. You need a micro sd card I ordered cheapest 1 with high memory.

Brilliant, affordable
Bought this to keep an eye on my dogs while I was out. Brilliant picture quality and audio. Can check in at any time. Although you need to purchase a subscription to look back on footage which is around £2.99 monthly.I ended up purchasing another one for another room. Would definitely recommend.
