Choose the correct size o-ring
Captain O-rings are the correct diameter and thickness for the Pentek Big Blue filter. You can see that the Captain O-Ring sits correctly in the grove and the other brand does not, though both brands label say they are the same o-ring replacement. The wrong size O-ring could make your filter change a headache if you need to replace it and have the wrong size.

Worked Fine on Pentek Big Blue Housing
Worked fine on my Pentek Big Blue filters. They are a bit thin, but do the job. I had a slight leak (only a drip) on one of the filters after installation, but that stopped after less than 24 hours as the o ring swelled a bit. Just a note that these o rings will swell after use. They will not fit back in the groove because the circumference increases and they will not lay flat in the groove. Always have new o rings on hand when you change your filter or it will be a frustrating experience.

It works
I seldom write a review however this one was easy to do. I normally reuse the o rings when changing out a filter in the big blue housing every 6 months. Last time I noticed the o ring was starting to get stretched out and didn’t fit perfectly I went ahead and installed it nonetheless hopefully it wouldn’t leak and it didn’t. Recently when it came time to change the filter again I ordered these new o rings hoping for a good fit. I was pleasantly surprised these o rings fit perfectly in the housing and made the reinstall very easy and confident it wouldn’t leak. I was too cheap to buy new o rings previously however they cost was worth it with an easier replacement and removed the concern of a leak.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:I was replacing the filter so it was over a few years old so I replaced the O-ring too. Perfect fit - I used plumbers O ring lube to keep it in place on the filter housing.
