Funky ways to set things ablaze...
If you like setting things alight without using actual fire this is definitely the way to go, if you already have a Zippo/Zippo case of course. Charges quickly and seems to last a while, although I never really go much of a chance to use it as I bought it thinking, "...that's a good idea... I'm sure that will be safer to take on a plane than an open flame lighter..." How wrong I was. I did read the Internet, and there seemed to be as many people saying yeah its fine as there were saying no don't take it. So I thought I'd take the chance.Spoiler alert, I don't have this anymore. Flying into America was apparently fine and no one had any problems, but when I changed over to a connecting flight internally in America, they were not happy. Surprisingly it is nothing to do with it going off in flight, or someone setting the plane on fire, it's actually because they classify it as a weapon that you could use to electrify people on your flight. Seemed strange to me, and I did (briefly) try and argue that it was a lighter and that I wasn't intending to do so, but it was obvious that wasn't going to 'fly' so I had to give it over. If you don't want to risk losing this don't fly with it at the moment. Other than that it's a really good insert and a really good sturdy reliable lighter for all your ways to set things ablaze.

Ok
Brought this to keep in the car as didn't want the car smelling of lighter fluid when I lit up a ciggie as standard Zippos do. It works and holds charge but can be fiddly as needs to be pressed twice to light and needs to be held close to the roll up etc before it lights. Standard Zippos remain superior but a good alternative and quick to change

Zippo Rechargeable Plasma Lighter Insert or "Big Disappointment"
Over the years I have owned many classic petrol Zippo lighters. This brand is The Legend after all! This time decided to move forward with the spirit of time and buy an electric plasma lighter (to be exact, you are buying an insert only. You still gonna need your own Zippo casing). Slightly overpriced if compared to competitors, but still legendary (?) Zippo. Right? Not really. It came boxed with a super-short USB charging cable, a warranty card and a manual (as you would expect). But that's about all good I can say about this purchase. After charging it for the first time, on a very short cable and sliding it to my old polished brass Armour Zippo case, I was excited to test it. And here comes the bad part. It didn't start up the first, or second time. It finally did on the third try. It's my first "plasma", so I'm not sure if all of them are like that, but there seems to be very little power (heat) coming out of it. I had to nearly touch the lighter with my roll-up, to ignite it. After this, lighter was lighting up on average once every three tries. And this was in house conditions. No wind, rain etc. Recharging didn't help, so I had to send it back. That wasn't the nicest process either, as the item came from Germany and Brexit, I had to complete additional customs forms, which I did not enjoy! In fact, still waiting for refund. I have also bought a Zippo jet lighter (insert) as a replacement and this one was a disappointment for a whole new review! Ended up buying cheaper, better quality, triple jet (vs Zippo's 2 jets), Chinese made VVAY lighter, which so far, I am really happy with.SCORE: US-made Zippo minus 2 points. Chinese-made VVAY plus 1 point!

Zippo upgrade....if you're out of petrol..
Great insert for your flame proof zippo carcass. Really handy for when you run out of petrol or flint. Replace the insert & away you go! Really good idea. You dont have the petrol smell, no flint to run out. Cleaner but not as reliable.

Brilliant!
I have always loved the look of Zippo lighters but always struggled to use them. I've been buying electric lighters for years so when I saw this electric insert I was very intrigued! It's not easy to find cases to put the insert in, the first one I bought was rubbish so I opted to buy a full Zippo lighter and just change the insert. Well I couldn't be more pleased, it looks absolutely amazing! I now have the full Zippo experience but with the ease of the electric insert! Don't let some of the comments put you off, you do have to press it twice but it's not a problem at all and it's an excellent safety feature.I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves zippos!
