Finally got the sound I wanted!
22 foot bowrider with old school Alpine MRV-F505 v-12 expert 4ch amp and new Alpine MRV-M500 mono sub amp. Sony marine MEXM70BT head unit.2 SPS-M601's in the Bow and 2 SPS-m601's in the middle of the boat, plus 2 SPR-M700's at the back of the boat and a SWR-M100 Alpine 10inch SUB in the ski locker. The m700's give a very rich and complete sound all by themselves. After I adjusted the gain on the amp so that the 601s could handle the same volume levels as the 701's, the 601's became a real complement. Adding speakers to the bow of the boat made a huge difference! I can drown-out any kid noise and or engine noise! Adding the SUB gave the "feel" of a really BIG system. We now have pretty clear sound in the boat while at speeds of 40mph+ and when sitting still....well it's just embarrassingly loud and clear when I turn it up. I had 4 JBL 6.5 marine speakers and they just did not offer the same range in the lower spectrum as the Alpine m601 or m700. If you have the room for the m701's those are a better speaker with a lot more bass. The 601's are a really good all-around or starting point speaker that you can't go wrong with.

Awesome sound paired with a JBL gauge style unit
Awesome sound paired with a JBL gauge style unit. This is the 2nd set I've put in and love all 4. The hole does need to be a bit larger than recommended when placed in an area with a thicker wall..

Great speaker - and an improvement over the previous model!
AWESOME speakers for the price & size. I don't have an amp on my boat but these things put out great sound directly from the head unit, even when you crank em. I had the same type of Alpine speakers previously, which sounded equally as good, but the grill was a snap-on cover and did not tighten to the speaker using screws. Over time, removing the grills repeatedly caused the mounting holes on the speaker rim to crack and eventually fail, leaving me with speakers that were almost falling out of their holes in the fiberglass. This newer model has fixed that issue by ditching the snap-on grill style and using the same screws to mount the grill to the speaker and the speaker to your mating surface. Nice work Alpine!

Fantastic value and quality
I installed these on my Yamaha AR240 boat as replacements for the stock speakers. I am shocked at both the sound quality and loudness. I was ready to embark on an entire rebuild of my system but that is now off the table. There is no need. I could not be happier with my purchase.

alpine quality.. great boat speakers
very happy with the product quality and sound of these speakers in my boat. I replaced all (6) of the original speakers on my 2005 Cobalt 246 with these and they sound great.

Alpine SPS-M60 have an exceptional and crystal clear sound. ( 2-35 watts RMS 110 watts peak power)
Outstanding Performance !!! (A+) 100% recommendedJust installed on a jet ski with powered by a Marine Boss Amplifier and these Alpine SPS-M60 have an exceptional and crystal clear sound. Power range is 2-35 watts RMS (110 watts peak power). If put more than 35 watts RMS, make sure that you have a crossover on it to cut off the excessive bass for a better performance on these alpines.

Nice replacement speakers.
I installed four of these in about 20 minutes. I was replacing 20-year-old alpine 6.5 inch speakers in my boat. These are noticeably more clear and a touch louder, but perfect fit otherwise.
